jaded?

A random conversation with a guy "friend" made me think about my views on things.

Friends and good manners will carry you where money won’t go.That's according to Margaret Walker.

But money will carry you where neither those other two can go. :p

Money can't buy love. Hehe.

So you say. Other people would differ. :p

True love can't be bought.

Then why the hell do people buy diamond rings?

People marry. But that doesn't mean they love.

Then what's the point? Besides, your response didn't answer the question.

The point is that love can't be bought.

Weak argument. You're going in circles. And what do you know about love anyway? There's lots of people in the world. you can't pretend to know each and every kind of love these people feel.

Diamond only shows affection. Not love.

Lol. Says who? Someone who probably can't and won't afford a diamond ring? Bleh.

Haha. I can afford. In due time. But I think I won't give one. It's not practical. Hehe.

And yet you think other men give out diamond rings just for affection? *roll eyes*

So I know my argument was flawed as well. Jumping to diamond rings as a sign of true love. But if you really think about it, I do have a point. If love can't be bought, then why do people buy expensive things to "show" their love? If love is priceless as they say, then why even attempt to give it value? Wouldn't giving out expensive gifts actually turn it into something cheap? It's like saying it isn't cheap, but look, I can buy you an expensive jewelry to stand for it. I get that having something to symbolize your love does not necessarily equate to putting a price on it, but really, why do men feel the need to buy expensive objects to symbolize their love?

Am I too cynical for love? Lol.
